Research Workshops: AWR “Filling the Gaps” and "Clearing your Mind”

Need to fill in some gaps in your research paper? Wondering if there are resources beyond Lexis and Westlaw? Want to see examples and understand the structure of published scholarly works? Need a little help devising a Bluebook strategy? Go to the library’s “Filling in the Gaps in AWR Research” workshop on Wednesday, March 20th from noon-1:00pm in room 1337.

Having trouble staying focused during the research process?  Get lost in the piles of information?  Join us for a workshop on how to clear your mind when researching! “Clear Your Mind for Effective Research” is being offered by the library on Thursday, March 21st from noon-1:00pm in room 1337.

Study Aids Workshop - Tuesday, August 28th, 2012

Would you like to gain a better understanding of a legal topic you are studying this Fall? Are you interested in finding out more about the Law Library's Academic Success collection and Westlaw's online study aids? How about learning to use some new legal apps that can help with your studies?

Come learn some tips for success from your very own Law Library staff this Tuesday, August 28th. The workshop will be offered at the following times in the Library's Teaching Lab, located on the 13th floor in classroom 1337.

Library Workshops for the Week of April 16-20, 2012

Are you working or interning this summer and looking for some free alternatives to Lexis & Westlaw? Are you having trouble navigating the Bluebook and creating proper legal citations for your AWR or other scholarly paper?

Well look no further because this week the Law Library is offering three different workshops to help you with your legal research.

Beyond Westlaw & Lexis - Learn about the unique array of research databases PSL subscribes to and how to search them effectively to enhance your research. This workshop will also touch on some of the key free resources for legal information.

 Bluebook Q&A - This session is run by you. Come to us with any questions you have about Bluebooking and we'll do our best to help you find the answer.

  • Wednesday, April 18, 2012 - 12:00-12:50 pm - 13th floor computer lab

 FastCase – Discover an affordable alternative to Westlaw and Lexis that firms use to conduct research. FastCase provides access to a variety of legal resources including cases, statutes, and secondary sources.**Access is free for all members of the State Bar of Arizona.**

Bluebook & Citators Workshops: April 3 & 4, 2012

Need to better understand how The Bluebook is organized so that you can properly cite cases and statutes, use parentheticals, and Id? Have questions about using KeyCite and Shepard's to determine if your case is good law and to find other materials on point?


This week the Law Library is offering two different workshops. **Snacks will be provided!**

Bluebook Basics - Geared toward the practitioner, this workshop will help you construct citations for your court pleadings and motions.

Citators Q&A - This is an informal workshop. You are encouraged to bring your questions about Shepard’s and KeyCite.
